How the collection bonus works
There are 18 collection tracks, one per slot. Unlocking a skin for the first time adds points to that slot's track, and each point gives a fixed permanent increase to the stat named after that slot. The track caps at 500 points, and 500 points is a 50 percent increase. Nothing about this depends on what you are wearing, and nothing about it expires. You do not equip a skin to get the bonus; you own it.
| Slot group | Slots | Each point | At the 500 point cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weapons | Longsword, Greatsword, Dagger, Bow, Spellbook, Mace, Staff, Orb, and Fist | Attack increase 0.1% for that weapon type | Attack increase 50% for that weapon type |
| Armour | Helm, Pauldrons, Top, Gloves, Legs, Shoes, Cloak | Defense increase 0.1% for that slot | Defense increase 50% for that slot |
| Accessories | Necklace, Earrings | Attack increase 0.1% and Defense increase 0.1% | Attack increase 50% and Defense increase 50% |
Points are weighted by rarity, and only the first copy counts
A skin is not worth one point. The first time you unlock a skin it is worth one, two, three or four points depending on its grade, and unlocking it again is worth nothing at all. That changes the arithmetic completely: a slot capped at 500 points does not need 500 skins, it needs far fewer if you concentrate on the higher grades. The weighting is taken from a datamined collection table and is corroborated by item pages that show an Epic skin carrying three points.
| Skin grade | Points on first unlock |
|---|---|
| Common | 1 |
| Rare | 2 |
| Epic | 3 |
| Unique | 4 |
Grades in the collection run from Common up to Unique, and two launch-era guides also describe a Heroic grade above that. Here the sources disagree: one datamined collection table states there are no Heroic skins at all, while two independent launch-era guides give Heroic its own extraction rate alongside Unique. The datamined reading is the safer one to plan a long farm around, but the disagreement is unresolved rather than settled.

AION 2 Global: Free Skins Give Server-Wide Stats!

- The wardrobe and its collection effect are shared across every character you own on the same server, and a secondary character can wear skins unlocked on your main.
- Quest items and PvP items are the exception to the extraction rates: their skin drop is guaranteed, which makes them the cheapest source in the system.
- Extraction pays Enhance Stones as well as a chance at the skin, and auto-mining can be filtered to exclude high rarity gear and anything needed for weekly or daily reward chests.
- The combination rule is the only route to some skins: four duplicates of one grade give a random skin of that grade or better, and an aura item raises the upgrade chance for one combination at a time.
- Two claims about why extra characters matter: the Black Cloud Merchant assortment is per character, so alts multiply the skins you can browse each hour, and same class alts farm dungeon weapons for that class's collection track because loot follows your current class.
- Wardrobe and pet achievements count across the whole server, unlike achievements tied to an individual character.
Anders · English captionsOne wardrobe, shared by every character you own
The most commonly misunderstood part of this system is scope. The wardrobe and its collection effect are not per character: they are shared across every character you own on the same server, and a secondary character can wear skins that were unlocked on your main. That single fact changes how the system is worth playing, because it turns skins from a per-alter-egging grind into a single account-wide investment.
- Alt characters are worth more here than in almost any other system, because every skin any of them unlocks counts toward the one shared wardrobe.
- Extra characters of the same class as your main are the better ones. Dungeon weapon drops follow your current class, so same class alts farm weapons that actually feed your main's weapon collection track.
- The random Kina shop's assortment is per character, so each extra character gives you another set of skins to browse each hour rather than repeating the same window.
- Wardrobe and pet achievements count across the whole server, unlike achievements tied to an individual character, so those are completed once for everything you own.
The one guaranteed route
Extraction runs on a per rarity percentage, which means most of the system is a long grind with a soft floor. Two launch-era guides identify the same exception, and it is the single most useful fact on this page: quest items and PvP items do not roll, their skin drop is guaranteed. If you want skins at a predictable rate rather than a probabilistic one, those two categories are where to look.
| Item source | Skin drop on extraction |
|---|---|
| Common, Rare and Epic gear | A reported chance rather than a guarantee |
| Unique gear | A lower reported chance than the tiers below it |
| Heroic gear, where the grade exists | Reported at the same lower chance as Unique |
| Quest items | Guaranteed |
| PvP gear | Guaranteed, and the Abyss Points spent are largely refunded |
Extraction also returns Enhance Stones and costs a small fee in Kina, so the dismantle you are already doing pays into this system as a side effect. Auto-mining can be set up to run on everything you collect, with filters that exclude high rarity gear and anything you still need for weekly or daily reward chests, which removes the main reason people dismantle by hand.
Why the bonus is worth more than the number suggests
A 50 percent weapon attack increase looks like an enormous number, and it is measured in the wrong place. The collection percentage is applied to the average of a weapon's minimum and maximum attack rather than to the maximum, and the result lands in Pure Attack. Pure Attack is the bucket that Weapon Damage Boost multiplies directly. That has two consequences worth internalising before you decide how hard to farm this.
- The percentage scales with your weapon's own attack value, so the bonus is worth more on a stronger weapon. A later weapon makes every skin point you already own more valuable, which means the two progressions reward each other.
- Because it lands in Pure Attack rather than in a conditional pool, it is worth more per point than the same figure in PvE Attack, Boss Attack or any conditional attack stat.
- And because Pure Attack is multiplied by Weapon Damage Boost, the real value of a Closet point scales with how good your Weapon Damage Boost already is. Closing this track late in progression pays considerably better than closing it early.
How to get skins
- Extracting gear is the main faucet. Dismantling an item you no longer need can return its skin, and it also costs Kina and returns Enhance Stones, so the extraction you are already doing pays into this system as a side effect.
- The Abyss Point route is the reliable one. Guardian Decanus gear sold by the AP Merchant has a visual skin, and dismantling it is reported to guarantee a skin unlock while refunding about 80 percent of the points spent, which works out to roughly 8,000 AP per guaranteed Unique skin. Buy Earrings, Gloves or Cloaks for this, and avoid Rings, which carry no visual skin.
- The Black Cloud Merchants, the random Kina shop, draw from a pool of 884 skins plus skin chests. The Monolith pays out none, so do not spend expectation there. You can spend Kina to buy a skin you are missing from that rotating pool directly.
- Synthesis turns duplicates into new skins: four spare skins of one grade produce one random skin of that grade or better. The chance to come up a grade is 25 percent from Common, 20 percent from Rare and 15 percent from Epic, while a Unique always stays Unique, and a weapon result is always your own class's weapon type.
The 700 skin title
Collecting more than 700 skins unlocks the Empty Closet title, which is the crossover point between this system and the title system. Its figures are disputed between sources, and the disagreement matters because it decides whether the milestone is worth planning around. The datamined reading gives Combat Speed and Cooldown Reduction at 3.5 percent each with 42 Natural HP Regen while equipped and 120 HP for merely owning it. Two community guides instead give 5 percent Combat Speed and 40 Natural HP Regen equipped with 50 HP owned. Both agree the owned bonus exists and both agree it is permanent.
Titles
Every title pays a permanent bonus just for being owned, on top of what it gives while equipped. Roughly 530 of them exist.
Wings
Wings also separate the equip effect from the ownership effect, and ownership effects stack across every wing you collect.
Shugo Festival
Festival skins are among the cheapest token buys that still feed this bonus, and the shop also stocks the growth consumables you want anyway.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Do skins give stats in AION 2?
Not directly. A skin only changes appearance. What raises your character is the Closet collection bonus, where each skin you unlock for the first time adds points to its slot track worth 0.1 percent per point up to 500 points, or 50 percent.
How much can the Closet collection bonus give me?
Up to a 50 percent increase per slot, at 500 points. Weapon slots raise attack for that weapon type, armour slots raise defense for that slot, and the Necklace and Earrings slots raise both attack and defense.
Which weapon skins should I collect first?
Only the ones matching the weapon your class actually uses, because the attack bonus is keyed to weapon type and skins for other weapons contribute nothing. A Sorcerer should ignore every Greatsword skin entirely.
Do I have to wear a skin to get its collection bonus?
No. The bonus is attached to unlocking the skin, not to wearing it, and it is permanent. You can transmog into whatever you like without losing anything.
How many skins do I need for the 500 point cap?
Far fewer than 500, because points are weighted by rarity at one, two, three or four for Common through Unique and only the first copy of each counts. Filling a track with higher-grade skins reaches the cap far sooner than filling it with Common ones.
Do paid skins count toward the Closet collection bonus?
No. Two independent launch-era guides state that premium skins give no stats and do not contribute to the wardrobe collection. Only free sources move this system, however much a store skin costs.
Does the Closet collection apply to all my characters?
Yes. The wardrobe and its collection effect are shared across every character you own on the same server, and secondaries can wear skins unlocked on your main. Same class alts are the most useful here, because dungeon weapon drops follow your current class.
What is the fastest guaranteed way to get skins?
Quest items and PvP items, because their skin drop on extraction is guaranteed rather than a per rarity roll. PvP gear is the stronger of the two because the Abyss Points spent are largely refunded when you dismantle it.
What is the fastest way to farm skins?
Dismantling Abyss Point gear from the AP Merchant, which is reported to guarantee a skin unlock and refund about 80 percent of the points spent. Buy Earrings, Gloves or Cloaks for it, and skip Rings since they have no visual skin.
