AION 2 Field Guide

The two bonuses

An equipped title gives its bonus only while it occupies a slot, which is why the same title is worth a lot to an optimiser and nothing at all once you swap it out. An owned title gives a smaller bonus permanently, whether or not it is equipped, whether or not you remember it exists. Across five hundred titles the owned bonuses are a stat package you build by playing broadly rather than a set of three choices you optimise.

  • Confirms three effect slots that are chosen independently, one Offensive, one Defensive and one Utility title at a time.
  • The title displayed next to your name is set separately from those three effect slots, and can be cleared so nothing is shown.
  • Where to read the two bonuses in the interface: the tooltip lists the equipped effect first and the owned effect below it.
  • Golden Glow comes from taking a piece of gear to its maximum upgrade, which makes enhancement the real gate rather than a title specific task.
  • States that the pattern is shared rather than unique to titles: wings, pets and titles all carry a permanent effect on the owned line, so any of the three collections pays out without being worn.
  • Flags a group of titles that are tied to collecting PvE feathers at the Monolith.

How many titles there are

Two independent databases both published within days of each other land within a few titles of each other, which makes the scale reliable even though the exact number is not. One counts 528 titles, or 744 entries once faction variants are counted separately. The other counts 530 title items. They also split them into six categories, and here the naming differs more than the totals do.

CategoryCount, source ACount, source B
Dungeon4848
Challenge106106
Quest112111
Exploration or Adventure175179
Item or Resource4444
Growth or Progress4342

Dungeon and Challenge agree exactly, which is a good sign for the rest. The rest drift by a title or four and use different labels for what may be the same buckets. Treat the category structure as the reliable part and the totals as approximate, the same way the quest counts on this site are handled.

Titles are also seasonal rather than a fixed list. Abyss, Transcendence, Nightmare and the two arenas all appear scoped to Chapter 1 or to Season 1, 2 and 3, which means the list is a stream that keeps growing and that a title you own from Season 1 is permanent content rather than a seasonal item that expires.

The titles worth chasing

Four titles are worth planning around because their condition is itself a goal, usually the end state of one of the other collection systems on this site. Their figures come from a client-derived read, so treat them as strong rather than guaranteed and confirm against your own tooltip.

TitleHow you get itWhile equippedFor simply owning it

A handful of further equipped effects are documented from the same client read, and they are worth noting because two of them serve PvP and one is deliberately small.

How to plan a title

The Titles menu is unusually honest about what you do not have. Locked entries show the stat bonus they will grant before you unlock them, and each has a Title Info panel naming the unlock method, so you can work backwards from a stat you want to the exact activity that produces it instead of clearing content and hoping. Filters are available for the three stat groups and for the unlock method. In the tooltip the equipped effect is listed first and the owned effect sits below it, which is the quickest way to check what a title is actually giving you permanently.

The unlock conditions are often a different system's endgame rather than a task of their own. Golden Glow, for instance, comes from taking a piece of gear to its maximum upgrade, which makes enhancement the real gate rather than anything title specific. A separate group of titles is tied to collecting PvE feathers at the Monolith, and the wardrobe, pets and titles milestones all sit on this same pattern. That is the argument for treating titles as the readout of your other progress rather than as a list to grind on its own.

  1. Open the Titles menu and read the locked entries. The ones matching a stat your build is short on are your real list; ignore the rest.
  2. Sort by unlock method. Titles that drop from a dungeon or challenge you already run cost you nothing extra.
  3. Fill the three effect slots from the Attack, Defense and Utility groups rather than stacking three Attack titles, because the groups exist to stop that.
  4. Then stop optimising and start collecting. The owned bonuses are where five hundred titles become a stat total, and they require breadth rather than a target.

That last point is the one most guides miss. A single owned bonus of one percent looks like nothing next to a four percent equipped effect, which is why players chase the four percent. But the equipped slot is three titles and the owned pool is five hundred, and the small numbers are the ones that compound without occupying a slot, persisting through every future gear change and every season.

SKIN BONUS

Skins and the Closet

The Empty Closet title sits at 700 skins, where the Closet collection track is worth up to 50 percent per slot.

OWNERSHIP

Wings

Wings use the same split pattern, and their ownership effects stack across everything you collect.

DAILY TITLES

Shugo Festival

A Shugo artwork-collection title exists, and the Festival achievement tracks participation with tokens and titles along the way.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

How many titles are in AION 2?

Roughly 530. Two independent databases count 528 titles, or 744 entries once faction variants are counted separately, and 530 title items. The exact figure drifts by a title or two depending on how faction duplicates are handled.

Do titles give stats even if I do not equip them?

Yes. Every title has an owned bonus that applies permanently once you unlock it, separate from and usually smaller than the equipped bonus. This is the reason collecting titles widely is worth more than optimising three of them.

How many titles can I equip at once?

One title is displayed next to your name and up to three are equipped for their effects, one each from the Offensive, Defensive and Utility groups. Three independent sources describe the three effect slots, and one of them shows two titles equipped simultaneously. One source claims only one title can be equipped at a time, which is the outlier reading.

Do wings, pets and titles work the same way?

Yes, and the shared pattern is the point. Wings, pets and titles each carry a permanent effect on the owned line that applies without being equipped, so all three collections pay out whether or not you wear anything. The only difference is scope, which is covered on the builds page.

What are the best titles in AION 2?

Four are worth targeting because their unlock condition is itself a collection goal: Rule All Creation at 200 pets, Dominator of Dimensions at 25 wings, Unbound by Genus at mastered Genus Insight, and Empty Closet at over 700 skins. Each gives a substantial equipped bonus plus a permanent owned bonus.

Where do titles come from?

Six categories covering quests, dungeons, challenges, exploration, resource and progress sources, with titles additionally scoped to seasons and chapters such as Abyss Season 1 and Transcendence Season 1, so the pool keeps growing without expiring.

Can any title give Smite in AION 2?

Not according to the client data that has been published. That read explicitly notes no visible title grants Smite, which is worth knowing before you treat Smite as a collection milestone.
